  How to clean an Inkjet printer

over time, Inkjet printers can become dirty due to excess ink ''leaking'' out of the ink cartridges. Ink can build up on major  components of the  printer, causing  the print quality to decrease. When this occurs , it may be necessary  to clean the printer .
Tip:  Before  following any of the steps below, be sure to try  the printer self-cleaning feature. All printers today have some type of self-cleaning  ability that is usually accessed by  pressing and holding one or more of the  buttons on the  front of the printer.    if this doesn't help or if the  printer needs cleaning  beyond what the self-cleaning  is  capable of doing , try the steps below.
To clean your printer, there are several areas that  you need to focus on:
             * Print Heads
             * Ribbon
             * INK Reservoir
             * Stabilizer bar
Many printers include the  print heads on the ink cartridges themselves.  to clean these, remove the ink  cartridges from  the printer. take a piece of paper towel , fold it into quarters and apply some  isopropyl alcohol to it and rub   the paper towel gently along the print heads on the back or underside of the ink cartridges. running the paper towel along the print heads several times  should be adequate to remove  most , if not all , of the ink build-up.
Next, takes some window cleaner   (e.g. Windex) and spray it on a piece of  paper towel , then clean the ribbon that sits behind  the ink cartridge tray . the ribbon is typically white in color.

Caution: Be very careful when cleaning the ribbon.  only use minimal pressure on the ribbon  or  you could risk disconnecting the  ribbon  from the printer on either side. it is difficult to reconnect the ribbon,  so be extremely gentle when cleaning it to avoid it from  becoming disconnected.
Then, using a  cotton swab,  clean  up  any ink build-up in the  bottom of the ink cartridge tray  ( ink reservoir ).  if necessary , you  could use a little bid of alcohol on a cotton swab  to help clean up the ink.

Lastly, using some sewing machine oil or  printer oil , place a few small spots of  oil along the  stabilizer bar , which is the bar that the ink cartridge tray  slides along. performing this process  should also reduce squeaking , crunching , and grinding printer noises.
You may also want to check  the paper pickup rollers in the back of the printer . Usually, printers  have  a back  panel that opens up, allowing you to see and access these rollers. Clean these rollers with either a cotton swab with alcohol or window cleaner. you can inside the printer.
Inkjet vs . Laser printer

For the general consumer, when buying a printer, the basic choice is  whether to  get an inkjet printer or  a laser printer. both printers have their pros and cons, which need to be weighed based on the features and functionality  needed by  the consumer.
inkjet   printer

THERE  are several types  of inkjet  printers available:
*Basic document printer
*Photo printer
*Copier/scanner/printer (all-in-one)
if you need a printer to just  print basic documents , with or without color, like a word document, excel spreadsheet,web page , or  an E-mail message, a document printer is  adequate  for the job . The inkjet printer is the least expensive of the three types, typically priced under $100 .
If you are interested in printing photos up to 8 x 10 in size and needs the photos to be high quality, the photo printer is the best option. most photo printers can  print relatively high resolution photos and can many times look just as good as a photo developed and printed by  a professional photo printing business.
If you need the ability to make  copies of documents and scan documents or photos into a computer, as well as print documents, the all-in-one printer is best choice. some all-in-one printers may also even have fax capabilities and document feeders built-in as well, allowing the user to copy a multi-page document, just like a large copy machine.
Inkjet pros & cons

With Inkjet printers, there are pros & cons to owning and using one.
The pros include:
*Smaller size- most inkjet printers are  relatively small and can fit in tight spaces. all-in one inkjet printers are a bit larger but still typically smaller than a laser printer and much smaller than a standard office copy machine.
*Low Cost- inkjet printers, overall, have lower sticker prices than a laser printers. when the time comes , they are also cheaper to replace since it is often easier and cheaper to just buy a new printer if it breaks down.
*cheaper ink cartridges- ink cartridges for inkjet printers have become cheaper in price in the  last  few years. often  ink is half  the price of a laser toner cartridge.
*Easier to replace cartridges - replacing  ink cartridges in an inkjet printer is quick and easy top do.
*EXCELLENT PHOTO quality- inkjet printers geared towards photo printing can  produce amazing results, printing  pictures with vivid colors , high contrasts, and virtually no pixelation. there is almost  no need to go to a professional  photo printer  to have your photos printed.
The Cons include:
*Less efficient ink use-inkjet printers  have a higher cost per page when it comes to printing , due to their rather inefficient usage of  ink. when compared to inkjet  printers laser printers are  much more efficient with  their toner.
*slower printing of larger documents- printing a document with multiple  pages takes a bit longer on  an inkjet printer than a laser printer.
*Messy to clean - cleaning an inkjet printer is on easy task , nor is it a clean one . inkjet cartridges can sometimes leak, and the ink  can stain almost anything it comes in contact with , including clothes and hands.

overall, inkjet printer is the most common choice for consumers,  when visiting an electronics store , it is common to see a larger  selection of inkjet printers than aser  printers.
